| Dr John Martindale, of Dunfermline- based race promoters Interloq Ltd, said Dundee’s support had made the race — from Camperdown Park to Broughty Ferry — one to remember.
He also promised that the organisers would make sure that any litter and mess left behind by the event’s 644 participants would be cleaned up by the end of today.
He told the Tele, “From the feedback I received from the people I spoke to the general support for the event is very, very good.
“It’s fantastic in Dundee.
“We do events all over the country, and even into Europe, and it was a lovely atmosphere there.
“I think the city deserves a big and beneficial sporting event of this type.”
He said the biggest problem had been the downpour in the early part of Sunday morning, but praised the enthusiasm of the runners, who laughed through the rain.
He added, “I’ve never been so wet in my life setting the event up until about nine o’clock.”
Some residents contacted the Tele today to complain about water bottles and litter left behind at some of the water stations along the route, including in the South Road and Dundee Technology Park stretches of the course.
Dr Martindale said his team would liase with Dundee City Council and cover the race route today to ensure any litter left behind by the runners is cleared up. |
