| Police in Dundee are investigating an incident at a city high school that resulted in the suspension of a teacher.
Maths teacher Mike Barile is understood to have been suspended from his post at Lawside Academy earlier this month.
Although Dundee City Council has refused to confirm Mr Barile’s involvement in the incident, local EIS officials are assisting a union member within the school.
Last July, Mr Barile was cleared of allegations he faced while teaching at Madras College in St Andrews.
He was away from work for several months after getting into a dispute with school management over claims he had been assaulted by a pupil.
The pupil was later charged by police and Mr Barile was reinstated, although another allegation that he assaulted a pupil was made.
The Procurator Fiscal did not bring criminal proceedings against him and he was eventually reinstated by Fife Council.
He joined Lawside Academy at the start of this term.
However, police are now investigating the Lawside Academy incident.
A spokeswoman for Tayside Police said, “We have received a complaint and inquiries are ongoing.” |
