United want Dixon
Dundee United and Kilmarnock are battling it out for the services of departing Dundee full-back Paul Dixon (writes Tom Duthie).
The Dark Blues today confirmed they’d had discussions, with two clubs about Dixon, who indicated at the end of last season he’d be moving on.

While boss Alex Rae declined to name the outfits in question, United and Killie are the interested pair.

Dixon was a Tangerines fan as a kid, but it is understood that, right now, Rugby Park is a more likely destination.

Having just lost vice-captain Scott Robertson to their city rivals, Dundee’s preferred destination for the 21-year-old would be the west coast.

And, unlike with Robertson, his age means they can command a fee and that puts them in a stronger position with regards to his ultimate destination.

Should, however, Dixon dig his heels in, he could still end up at Tannadice, though it may take some time for that move to be completed.
