| The 18-year-old has been named as Louise Boag, of St Giles Terrace.
A post mortem was being carried out today, but it’s understood detectives are looking into whether the death in the Hilltown multi was drugs-related.
A spokesperson for Tayside Police said, “Emergency services attended at Bonnethill Court shortly after 3 pm yesterday and found the woman’s body on the common landing of the building.
“She was pronounced dead by ambulance staff at the scene.
“An investigation into the full set of circumstances surrounding her death is ongoing.
“Door-to-door inquiries are continuing in the area today.”
As with all sudden deaths, a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
Her grieving family was too upset to comment today.
It was claimed last month that Bonnethill Court was “almost in a state of chaos” because of problems with drug dealing and unruly behaviour. One Tele letter-writer said the problems had escalated in recent months despite interventions by the police and the council’s anti-social behaviour team.
There have also been claims, following a recent court case, that the Hilltown area of the city is “awash” with heroin users.
One resident of Bonnethill Court, who asked not to be named for fear of reprisals, said today the multi was beset with drug abuse problems.
“You only have to look around here to see evidence of it — there’s tinfoil lying all over the place and you regularly find needles in the closes,” she said.
“I’ve got an eight-year-old son, and it’s terrible he has to see things like that. When I was eight I didn’t even know what a needle was.
“I just keep to myself and try to turn a blind eye to what’s going on.
