More than 300 children put their best foot forward for charity in Dundee yesterday.
The generous youngsters were participating in the Great Wee Scottish Walk, held at Camperdown Park.

Lord Provost John Letford officially opened the event, which saw children take part in the walk in an effort to raise money for more than 100 charities and community and schools projects.

The Mains of Fintry Pipe Band kick started the proceedings as the first walkers set off at 11.15am. Further groups set off on the two-mile trek at 12pm, 1pm and 2pm.

Event organiser Priscilla Turner said the event aimed to encourage children under 16 to make the most of exercise while raising money for needy causes.

She said, “I am extremely pleased with how the day went. The Lord Provost was fantastic going through all the warm-up exercises with the kids and taking part in the walk himself. It has been a wonderful day.”

The charities to benefit from the walk include Alzheimer Scotland, Caring for Kids and the British Heart Foundation. For details of future walks visit www.greatscottishwalk.com.
