ALEX WARY OF ON-ROAD FORM
Dundee boss Alex Rae will be wary of the curse of the managerless team and an excellent away record when Morton arrive at Dens Park tomorrow (writes Tom Duthie).
The Greenock outfit head east at the end of a turbulent week that saw Jim McInally resign as team boss and club chairman Douglas Rae hit out at boo boys among their own support.

That kind of discord would point to a home win, but Alex is well aware this season has seen a string of teams pick up when their manager has left.

“It’s something that can galvanise players and concentrate their focus, so we know to expect a hard game from Morton,” he said.

“Also, any problems they’ve had stem from their home form and not what they’ve done away. On the road they have one of the best records in our division.

“They might have had a bit of a slump, but they are definitely one of the good football sides in the league and we know they deserve our respect.”

That said, the Dens gaffer is determined his players are going to build on the quality performance turned in against Motherwell in the Scottish Cup on Monday night.

“At Fir Park, the boys really raised the bar and it is important that level is maintained. There is no point in playing that way in one game and not keeping it going and we know we have to produce that form more consistently.

“Doing that is about making sure your approach is the same for every game, whatever the competition or opposition, and if we treat each one properly there is no reason why we can’t keep winning.”

Strikers Colin McMenamin and Mikael Antoine-Currier are available for selection after missing out at Motherwell because they were cup-tied and look likely to be handed starting places.

The manager has still to decide which of his full-backs will move inside to cover for suspended centre-half Milan Palenik, who will also miss next week’s trip to Stirling because he has accumulated too many penalty points.

If Eddie Malone moves inside from the left, Paul Dixon will start, wheras should David Cowan get the nod, David Worrell is likely to be at right-back.
