Broughty Ferry Save the Children shop will be recognised by Princess Anne at an awards ceremony in London on Tuesday.
The shop’s dedicated volunteers will be honoured with a lasting achievement award after raising over £200,000 in the last two years, money that’s been used to help vulnerable children around the world.

Shop leader Doris Telfer and staff member Anita McIsaac will attend Tuesday’s ceremony at South Africa House, Trafalgar Square, to be attended by charity president Princess Anne, chief executive Jasmine Whitbread and South African High Commissioner Lindiwe Mabuza.

Although having met Princess Anne four times previously, Mrs Telfer said, “It’s lovely to be honoured in this way. I think the shop has done so well because we are in the right place and people have been very kind with the quality and quantity of goods that come through the door.”

The shop has consistently been the top performing shop in Scotland and one of the top performers in the UK since opening its doors 30 years ago. “This is such a well-deserved accolade for Doris and her team,” said Rob McMillan, Save the Children’s retail manager for Scotland.

“Our Broughty Ferry volunteers are an exceptional group who dedicate their time willingly and also do extra fundraising outwith the shop.”
