| Linda Ross, depute head of Sidlaw View Primary, was suspended from her post five months ago after her husband, Vic, contacted the Press about what he saw as problems at the school.
An independent inquiry found there was some substance to his concerns, but found other claims were exaggerated.
The council started disciplinary proceedings against Mrs Ross and she had to go through two separate hearings — one at Baldragon Academy, and the other at Tayside House last week.
She was accused of making allegations about Sidlaw View outwith council procedures and practices, distributing unauthorised material to staff, and refusing to comply with a request from Lena Waghorn, the head of primary education.
Mrs Ross was told by education chiefs today she would be transferred to another school, but would retain her position as a deputy head.
Vic said, “She is being transferred and we are waiting on word where.
“We are very happy with the decision. “I can’t understand why they waited five months to come to this sort of decision.
“It should have been made within a few days, as it was myself that blew the whistle.”
Mr Ross said he thought the negative publicity the council had received since he made his allegations had helped his wife keep her job.
He added, “Linda is very happy with the outcome. She has missed the kids and will be looking forward to her new position as deputy head.”
Mr Ross said neither he nor his wife had any idea what the decision of the disciplinary panel was going to be before today’s meeting.
“It could have gone either way,” he said.
A council spokesman said later, “Dundee City Council does not comment on individual personnel issues.” |
