Merry makeover

The team work on the Fairbridge conversion.

A leading UK window company gave four Dundee-based aid organisations a belated Christmas gift today when they arrived for the first day of their annual conference.
Velux carried out renovation projects valued at over £40,000 at Dundee-based youth charity Fairbridge, Mid-Lin day-care project, The Under 12 Project and the Lend a Hand project.

More than 200 staff from the Glenrothes-based window company arrived at the four Dundee locations to carry out a range of work including installing windows, paint, construct a patio and create a garden.

Velux managing director Keith Riddle said the projects gave staff an opportunity to help worthwhile community projects while simultaneously learning more about their own product.

“We did this at our conference four years ago and the reaction from the staff was great. They really loved helping,” Mr Riddle said.

Of the four sites renovated today the project at Fairbridge was the biggest and most complex job — costing around £20,000 and requiring the help of 100 Velux staff.

The Kemback Street premises received a major makeover, including the painting and installation of windows in the attic.

The Mid-Lin day-care project, on Pitkerro Drive, benefited with a garden being dug and a brand new patio being installed.
