| Neil died in November, aged 54, having suffered from dementia, and his wife Catherine decided to help provide better services for younger patients of the illness.
The first event on Saturday was a sponsored walk across the Tay Road Bridge, organised by Catherine’s seven-year-old nephew, Lewis Raitt and was completed by six of the male family members. Later there was a themed charity night at Deja Vu nightclub with a raffle and auction.
Catherine said, “There were around 200 attending in the evening. People were dressed up in 60s, 70s and 80s fancy dress, so it was really fun and a great way of remembering Neil while also raising money for a cause that’s personal to us. We are hoping events have raised in the region of £2000 when all the money is gathered in.”
The money is going to the Dundee branch of Alzheimer’s Scotland and Catherine added, “A lot more people are being diagnosed with dementia at a younger age and the money is hopefully going to raise awareness and provide more services for younger sufferers.” |
