Armed police raid Dundee house
Armed police and scenes of crime officers swooped on a house in Mid Craigie’s Drumlanrig Drive in Dundee this morning for the second time in a week (writes Claire McCormack).
Following a tip-off from a member of the public around 2.30am, armed police arrived at the scene and a 38-year-old woman was taken away for questioning, although it was stressed this was voluntary.

A road block was set up, with only residents’ vehicles allowed to pass.

The scenes of crime officers searched a house in the street and were seen carrying garden implements including rakes on to the property.

One resident said, “The police have been really good, and the kids are getting to go to school. Police said the problem was something related to what was going on last week, but it seems more low key than last time.”

Another said there was police presence in the area last night too, with door-to-door inquiries being carried out.

“The police were going around houses asking people questions such as what we do for a living.”

A bystander said, “There were lots of police walking up and down the street yesterday — I would say about eight lots in pairs.”

At the scene today, Inspector Steven Millar said, “This is part of an ongoing incident following on from the incident last Tuesday.

“We’re searching the house and garden for firearms, and armed police will be here for the duration of the day.

“If anyone in the area saw anything or heard anything suspicious through the night they should contact us on 01382 223200.”

Armed officers responded to calls from worried residents about suspected gunfire around Longtown Place late last Tuesday evening. Hours later, a house in Drumlanrig Drive was raided.

Several streets were cordoned off as officers made a detailed search for evidence. Door-to-door inquiries were also carried out.

Police confirmed they had received reports of a firearm being discharged.

Today’s raid comes after a week of intense police activity in various areas around the city.

Officers also raided homes in Linlathen’s Blacklock Crescent last week, detaining four people who were later released without charge, while a woman was interviewed by police after being found by a search team within a flat in Tulloch Court, Hilltown. She was also later released without charge.
