Intruders shock for Dundee OAP
A woman in her 70s was left extremely shaken after she discovered three “smartly dressed” strangers in her Dundee home (writes Steven Bell).
The pensioner, who has not been named, later discovered the trio had made off with a three-figure sum of money from the Gourdie Terrace property.

The crime occurred at around 6pm yesterday, and detectives are linking it to similar recent incidents in Perth and Angus.

A police spokesman said today, “The three men sneaked into the house and the elderly woman then found them.

“On being challenged, the men gave a poor excuse that they had found an item of property belonging to the woman.

“They then made their excuses and left.”

The three made off towards the Gourdie Street area, and the spokesman said there had been no suggestion of a vehicle being used.

The first male is described as being 28 to 30 years old, around 5ft 7in tall, and of slim build. He had dark hair and was wearing a dark suit.

The second male is said to be in his 40s, about the same height and of stocky build, with light brown hair. He was “smartly dressed” wearing a dark anorak.

The third male is described as being 26 to 27 years old, of thin build and taller than the other suspects. He was also smartly dressed, wearing a tan jacket.

The police spokesperson continued, “The occupier was not injured as a result of the incident, however she was left extremely shaken.

“This was another heartless crime against a vulnerable member of society.”

Anyone with information regarding the culprits is asked to contact Tayside Police on 01382 223200 or through Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
