Racing yacht moored in city

The Alba Explorer berthed at Victoria Dock.

Former round-the-world racing yacht, Alba Explorer, sailed into Dundee’s Victoria Dock today.
Moored in the dock by the Apex Hotel until tomorrow, the boat is part of a scheme from the Ocean Youth Trust Scotland giving local youngsters the chance to experience sailing.

Staff on board the vessel today presented information on the trust to local school groups and also encouraged people interested in the Trust to come along for a tour.

Tomorrow the Trust will host a civic reception on board the boat, at which local youngsters sailing on the Alba Explorer will welcome the Lord Provost for a tour of the vessel.

On Thursday and Friday the Alba Explorer will moor at the RNLI Lifeboat buoy off Broughty Ferry.

The OYTS will be running day sails on the River Tay for youth workers and teachers interested in finding out more about the Trust, before setting sail for Port Edgar, near Edinburgh, with a group of local people at the helm.

Ocean Youth Trust Scotland is one of the UK’s leading sail training organisations giving young people from a wide range of backgrounds the chance to work as part of a team and learn new skills to help boost confidence and self esteem.
