| Mr Macpherson condemned those responsible for the rash of graffiti in the Seabraes area.
“Many residents have commented positively about the viewing platforms that were opened recent,” he said.
“It is a real pity they have been subject to this sort of mindless vandalism and I think it is important that not only do the police take a proactive approach in tackling this, but that Scottish Enterprise Tayside (which owns the Seabraes viewing platforms) and the city council quickly arrange removal of any graffiti. Otherwise, it becomes a permanent eyesore.”
Mr Macpherson said he had also contacted the Leisure and Communities Department about damage to the mini bandstand in the park area north of Seabraes.
The west end seems to have become a target for vandals, with Ryehill named the city’s vandalism hotspot, with around £100 of damage caused each day.
However, the rest of Dundee also suffers, with 3644 acts of vandalism or malicious damage recorded across the city last year, slightly up on the previous 12 months. The culprits were traced in just over 25% of cases. |
