| The centre was broken into twice by youths in a drink-fuelled rampage where a rabbit was stolen from its pen, while a greenhouse and several animal enclosures were vandalised.
A spokesman for Dundee City Council said, “A review of security is under way.
“All of the animals have been double-checked and none appear harmed by the actions of the intruders, although some damage was done to fencing, particularly at the otters’ enclosure.
“Breaking in to the centre is a potentially dangerous thing to do and they have exposed themselves to risk of injury of worse.”
Police are keen to speak to a man who confronted the youths on Saturday evening after spotting them with the stolen rabbit. He looked after the animal overnight before returning it to the centre, but did not leave his contact details with staff.
The second incident happened between 5.30 pm on Sunday and 8 am on Monday.
Electric fencing surrounds most of the centre and police highlighted the fact the wild animals would not hesitate to attack any trespasser.
In light of the incident, parents were being urged to talk to their children regarding dangers and consequences associated with playing in such places.
A group of young boys, all aged around 10, were seen scaling the wall into the centre and entering the inner enclosure on Sunday evening.
