| The project sees Dundee link up with Chunchon in Korea and Gold Coast City, Australia, cities that are also part of the network, to encourage and develop young talent in the industry.
Joe Morrow, convener of Dundee City Council’s economic development committee said, “We decided it would be a good idea to encourage and showcase some of this talent internationally, by asking students and gamers in each of the three cities to submit their game ideas to this competition.”
Entries are eligible in four categories, individual student multimedia, individual student non-multimedia, individual non-student multimedia and individual non-student non-multimedia.
A multimedia entry is a game demonstration, animation, or recorded musical piece, while a non-multimedia entry is defined by organisers as either a game concept or artwork.
Team entries are not accepted, although an individual may enter both the multimedia and non-multimedia categories.
Computer games experts will judge submissions for the challenge and shortlisted entries will be put forward to a panel of international judges at a meeting in Dundee in August.
The deadline for entries, which can be downloaded at www.gdcngamecomp.com, is June 30. |
