Coldside candidate launches campaign
Independent candidate Stuart Winton today launched his campaign to be elected councillor in Dundee's Coldside ward.
Stuart, who has lived in the Hilltown area for 15 years, said many people were fed up with party politics and he hoped to provide an alternative for disillusioned voters.

He added, “There seems little point in rehashing why the public are put off by machine politics, but the election campaign has already demonstrated that the mainstream parties change policies merely on the basis of the latest opinion polls.

“The smaller parties promise the earth, but know they'll never be in a position to deliver.

“While there's nothing wrong with coalition and compromise, the previous Dundee City Council administration depended on an unholy alliance between three of the main parties that seemed born of an opportunistic lust for power rather than anything resembling principle.

Stuart has worked in the taxi industry and hopes to write a book about taxi regulation. He is studying history as part of a degree course, and is already an honours graduate in law.
