LIONS AT DENS PARK
At Dens, the players and coaching staff had a day off after their3-2 win over Ross County, their second home win in a week (writes John Brown).
Dundee have fixed up a pre-season friendly against Millwall, who are one of manager Alex Rae’s former clubs.

The date pencilled in for the Lions coming to Dens is Sunday, July 15.

MENTALITY SPOT ON
Dundee United manager Craig Levein today described the early part of Saturday’s win at Pittodrie as “bizarre” and “unbelieveable”, then praised the mentality of his players (writes John Brown).

“Really, I’ve been so long in the game now that nothing should surprise me, but that early spell in the game was really bizarre,” he said.

“It was quite unbelieveable. At that stage, the game had not settled into any real pattern and you just couldn’t believe what was unfolding out there.

“But, from my point of view, after going ahead so early in the game, it was fantastic to see the way the players reacted to losing two goals and to then score two and go in front.

“That, to me, said a lot about their mentality.

“There really is a determination about our play at the moment.

“We’ve been showing this for months, but it’s only now that we are seeing the real benefit.”

While the manager was pleased to see Irish duo Jon Daly and Noel Hunt back on the scoresheet, the two goals from youngster Greg Cameron also pleased him.

“Greg obviously did very well with his two goals, but what is most pleasing is that goals are continuing to come from his area — midfield.

“David Robertson has been pitching in with his fair share this season, and so, too, has Barry Robson.

“When you get regular goals from that area, you are always going to have a chance.

“What I need the players to do now, though, is keep this going as there’s no way I want them thinking that the work is over because it’s nearly the end of the season.

“We want to keep winning as many games as we can after the split to make sure we go into the summer in a good frame of mind to start the hard work again next time.”

The Tangerines have no game this weekend, so Craig will head south to take in a few game and to watch recommended players.

United hold their AGM this evening.

SAINTS SINNERS
St Johnstone will be minus three players through suspension when they play their next league game, Clyde away a week tomorrow (writes James Masson).
Simon Mensing is serving the last of his three-game ban, Allan McManus is starting a three-game ban, which means he has now played his last league match of this season, and Filipe Morais is now suspended after his ordering off at Gretna on Saturday.

Immediately after that game, Saints’ player-boss Owen Coyle flew to London where he is on a coaching course at Fulham’s ground for his UEFA Pro Licence.

He returns to McDiarmid Park tomorrow to continue preparations for Saints’ Scottish Cup semi-final against Celtic at Hampden Park on Saturday.

Owen’s No. 2, Sandy Stewart, took training today.
