| From plumbers to electricians and builders to joiners, people looking to avoid a botched DIY effort by calling in the professionals are often bombarded by boasts of brilliance.
But Paul Walker (31), of Paul Walker Decorators, is trying a different approach by engaging with the public in the native ‘dehalect’ and tapping into the world of e-commerce at the same time.
He has launched a bilingual website advertising his painting and decorating services in English and Dundonian.
“Friendly”
“If ye need a pentin an’ decoratin’ joab done then oor squad can dae it nae bather,” web surfers are told.
The team of three apparently brush up well.
The website says, “We a’ bide in Dundee an’ wiv got a nice van that can tak us a’ aboot the toon.
“Ye’ll git a braw bunch o lads that can handle yir joab in a professional an’ friendly manner.”
Mr Walker’s business has been going for just over two years.
“I’ve been trying to get some new business and I thought why not try a new language,” he said.
“I’m trying to get the website up the rankings on Google and hopefully this will work.” |
