Nursery and primary pupils at Craigiebarns School, Dundee, had a visit from the Michelin Man today to teach pupils about green energy as part of the school’s eco awareness day.
The whole school and nursery went potty for compost, taking part in learning sessions about trees and also tasting smoothies as part of a healthy eating drive.

A representative from Michelin joined the company’s rotund mascot to teach the older pupils about the benefits of wind power.

Primary 2 teacher Tricia Neville said, “The kids absolutely loved it and the Michelin Man was very popular.

“We have a continuing focus on environmental education within the school, but today was all about raising awareness and bringing it into focus.

“We would like to say thank you to all of the companies who donated to us.

“Stir Fresh of Inverkeilor donated fruit for the day, and Tayside Contracts gave us some fruit juices.

“We also had a donation of plants from Tesco, which the kids will be planting in the flower-maze we have in the school grounds.

“Michelin sent three staff along to teach the older kids, which is obviously a massive donation from them in terms of time and resources, and they also brought a load of freebies for the children.”

The day aimed to teach children lessons about eco issues and healthy lifestyles through imaginative activities, storytelling and songs.
