| The land, on the south side of Brook Street, near St Vincent’s Street, was mooted as a possible location for a store with the supermarket giants having already confirmed their interest in Broughty Ferry.
Concerns were raised today by some Ferry residents, who said it was too close to a retirement complex and could lead to noise problems with only a car park separating the land from the complex.
On its south side, the site also borders Long Lane, directly opposite housing. However, Tesco said it has no interest in the Brook Street location.
Speculation about Tesco’s ambitions in the central Broughty Ferry area was first raised in November when the old Fyvie’s dress shop in Brook Street was mentioned as a possible location.
Although the firm has said it would like to open another Express store in the area — it already has one in Dalhousie Road — it receives many inquiries about possible store locations around the country and, normally, has a policy of not discussing sites until a planning application has been lodged. |
