| Bids have been lodged on the Internet marketplace for a NCR production line shirt. The employee who owns the shirt is nameless thanks to the website’s privacy policy, but cites his location as Fife.
The seller claims to be one of the 650 employees dealt a devastating blow last week when NCR confirmed they were downscaling production in Dundee.
Although a Rapid Reaction Team is now up and running in a bid to locate new jobs and retraining for those affected, feelings are still running high amongst NCR employees leaving one employee to vent his feelings through the Internet.
The seller states, “This T-shirt is a collectors’ piece. It will remind you of the days when manufacturing had a future in Scotland and a time when companies actually cared about their employees.”
The auction has attracted two bids so far and sits at a price of £1.20. However, there are seven days left for bidders to come forward, with the seller insisting that all proceeds will go towards his retraining.
He states, “Due to the large scale redundancies at NCR, Dundee, the present owner will have no more use for this item. It is a large size and is well faded through years of hard graft.
“Any proceeds will go towards paying the bills while the seller hopefully retrains.”
Besides appealing for buyers to come forward the seller has also used the auction to canvas a new job.
The auction ends, “Serious job offers are most welcome!” |
