| The appeal came after a 23-year-old was subjected to a terrifying encounter with a man who tried to pull her into his vehicle.
The victim, who was unhurt, was walking in Longtown Street, at about 8.20 pm, near to the junction with Linfield Street, behind Mecca Bingo.
Officers think the man, thought to be in his 40s, drove off east on Happyhillock Road towards Douglas.
He is described as thin and his car as small and dark, possibly a Citroen Saxo.
He was wearing a dark baseball cap and a black fleece-type coat.
The victim was wearing a distinctive white coat and blue denim jeans.
Detective Constable Dave McGregor said although there have been no other reports of a similar nature, the failed abductor could strike again.
He added, “We ask anyone who may have been approached and not reported it to come forward.
“There were a number of vehicles in the area, including taxis, and anyone with information is asked to contact police on 01382 223200.” |
