| Paul was signed on loan from Celtic on transfer deadline day, but has been out with a stress foot fracture, although he did make a late substitute appearance in the CIS Cup win over Dundee United.
Yesterday’s 90 minutes was his first for Saints, and Owen said, “He was great in the game.”
Veteran Jim Weir was also in the Saints’ line-up, with Owen himself playing up front alongside Andy Jackson and Peter MacDonald.
Peter is also making his way back from injury, and Owen added, “There were a lot of positives to take out of the game.”
He was “delighted” with the showings of his young players, stating, “I really was thrilled with how the kids performed.”
Saints had five young lads in their starting line-up and one of the youngsters, Bobby Barr, son of the former Hamilton player of the same name, scored Saints’ goal.
Meanwhile, Saints’ CIS Cup quarter-final against Rangers at Ibrox will be played on Wednesday, November 8 (7.45). |
