| There are 2200 newcomers at Dundee University. They met at the City Square for the official welcome ceremony in the Caird Hall.
Principal Alan Langlands, Lord Provost John Letford, Student President Steven Blane and University Chaplain Rev Fiona Douglas gave welcome speeches.
There are 1000 new enrolments at Abertay University and more than 4000 new students registered at Dundee College.
Irene Donaldson, head of the Student Advisory Service at Dundee said, “We’re confident they will be impressed with the welcome events we have organised for them.”
Throughout pre-session week at Dundee University there will be information and awareness sessions as well as social and cultural events organised by Student Services and The Union.
At Abertay a range of activities is planned at the Students’ Assoc-iation, including a karaoke evening tonight and on Friday a Las Vegas night.
The week ends with a beach party on Saturday. Those attending the freshers’ ball on September 23 will be joined by TV presenter Holly Willoughby.
At Dundee College, the students’ association kicked off its annual Freshers’ Fayre at the Kingsway Campus today.
Over a dozen businesses and organisations are taking stalls at the Fayre, which moves to each of the college campuses throughout the coming week; Graham Street tomorrow, Melrose on Wednesday and ending on Thursday at Constitution Campus – to make sure all the students have the chance to take part. |
