Work begins on flats site

Work has begun to prepare the site for building multi-million pound student flats for Abertay University in Dundee.
The site, still owned by the city council until sale of the land goes through, is being prepared by the local authority.

Contractors have fenced off ground between the south wall of Dudhope Park and Lochee Road and Marketgait junction.

An Abertay University spokesman said, “Preparatory work will be completed before Christmas and the main construction is to begin in the New Year.”

The flats, which will accommodate almost 500 students, are expected to be complete for the university intake in September, 2008.
