| The study, carried out by BEAR Scotland Ltd for Ringway Highway Services, on behalf of Claymore Roads Limited, also showed an overwhelming majority of users satisfied with the new road.
Of those motorists who took part in the survey, 91% thought the road surface quality was very good or good and 87% indicated journey times were good or very good.
The overall impression of 85% is that the safety of the route is very good or good and this, say BEAR Scotland, is borne out by the accident record since opening.
The first winter maintenance regime was also well received with 97% reporting satisfaction with safety arrangements during frost and snow and 78% stating gritting was either good or very good.
Angus Council’s Infrastructure Services Convener, Councillor David Selfridge, said the report demonstrated a high level of customer satisfaction.
He commented, “Not only was the road completed seven months ahead of schedule, but this survey indicates two of the main objectives in undertaking this major infra-structure project have been achieved, namely improved safety and better journey times.
“Both are important factors for commuters and commercial vehicles and are significant contributors to the social and economic vitality of the north-east of Angus.”
One area highlighted as requiring attention was littering, with 22% of respondents stating litter picking was poor or very poor.
BEAR Scotland, which is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the road, is installing more litter bins at lay-bys. |
