Full house for lucky Dundonians
Dundee was named Britain’s luckiest city today after a series of bingo wins over the past year.
Players at the city’s Gala Club have had nine National Bingo Game wins and scooped £368,217 between them in the past 12 months.

It is the second year running Scotland has been awarded the number one spot. Last year, the Gala Club in Stirling came top.

The National Bingo Game Association calculated the top 10 luckiest towns and cities based on the number of National Bingo Game wins over £10,000 in each place. NBGA spokesman Steve Baldwin said, “Bingo has a huge following in Scotland so we’re delighted to see they have won the title for the second year in row.”

Dundee enjoyed a spell of big wins earlier this year. One woman celebrated a windfall of £20,000 at the Gala club in Lochee in May, while in April a 68-year-old woman from Douglas won a total of £20,646 at the same club.

In October last year, a woman won the National Bingo Game prize of £250,000 at the Mecca Dundee Playhouse, making it one of the biggest bingo wins in the city.

The NBGA’s top 10 luckiest towns and cities are — 1. Dundee (9 wins, £368,217); 2. Swindon (7 wins, £636,667); 3. Southampton (7 wins, £332,514); 4. Ipswich (7 wins, £308,737); 5.
