Ardler push for no-fee ATM

Sisters Wendy Anderson and Lesley Craik sign campaigner Jim Milne’s petition calling for a no-fee ATM in Ardler.

Members of the Dundee Anti-Poverty Forum have urged the public to call for a free-to-use cash machine in Ardler.
Project leader Jim Milne was campaigning in the Ardler area today following an announcement from the Royal Bank of Scotland that it plans to roll out 50 no-fee ATMs in disadvantaged areas of Scotland.

Residents can nominate Ardler Shopping Complex for one of the new machines by logging on to the bank’s website.

Mr Milne said, “We are soliciting for one of these ATMs in the Ardler Shopping Complex as we feel it would greatly benefit the local community.

“Unfortunately, the bank’s website is quite difficult to negotiate, and so we are hoping we can gain support from members of the public and register the online votes on their behalf.”

Gordon Pell, chief executive of retail markets at RBS, said, “If there’s a will in local communities to find suitable sites, we have a way to make it happen and ensure those with the greatest need have free access to their cash.”
