| The 6 ft.-plus Italian striker featured for just under an hour in the 1-0 friendly defeat by Rangers last night, but, although he showed some nice touches, didn’t do enough to convince gaffer Alex Rae he merited a deal.
The 20-year-old will now have to show up well in the training sessions ahead of Saturday’s league opener against Partick if he is to remain on Tayside.
There is also the prospect of other comings and goings as the manager looks to strengthen his squad ahead of the new season.
Alex said, “Nicola did alright, but we’ll assess him further before the weekend. I think he’s due to head home on Friday so, we’ll make a decision before that.
“I’ll see what else we can get in over the next day or so, one or two players may be going out in the next 24 to 48 hours, too.
Skipper Bobby Mann picked up a hip knock last night and was replaced at half-time. However, it’s expected the robust central defender will be in his usual place when the Jags arrive at the weekend. |
