| ‘Secondary Cause of Death’ by Peter Gordon is set in 1939, as the threat of war looms over Europe.
One of the main characters, Henrietta Woolmer-Cardington, is a captain in the Auxiliary Territorial Army, but is currently without a uniform.
MAD want to bring authenticity to the play, and hope to dress the character in at least part of the proper costume.
Despite trawling charity shops, searching on eBay and contacting fancy dress shops and other drama groups they have failed to find a uniform for Nicky Stewart, who will play Henrietta.
“Between us, we’ve searched everywhere we can think of, but we’re having no luck,” said director Fiona Barton.
“We’re appealing for help from any reader who may have access to an ATS uniform from that era, size 8.
“Someone may have a private collection or war memorabilia — or have it tucked away in their attic, which they’ve forgotten about.”
Time is rapidly running out with the play due to be staged in Monifieth on June 23 and again in Wellbank on June 30.
The dress rehearsal will be held on June 20, and the group is concerned Nicky will have no costume with which to rehearse.
Anyone that can help MAD trace a uniform, or part of it, should contact the Yorkshire Building Society in Brook Street, Broughty Ferry on 01382 480043.
Alternatively, it can be handed in to Moira Gee at the offices of D. C. Thomson at either Meadowside or Kingsway. |
