| Philip Colaco (21) forked out £500 on a sought-after golden ticket in a last ditch attempt to appear on the Channel 4 show.
The second year history student at Dundee University has auditioned twice before, but failed to catch the eye of the programme makers.
Philip was one of 67 hopefuls who managed to get their hands on one of the 100 golden tickets hidden in KitKat wrappers.
They travelled to London to a secret location on Monday in the hope of impressing the producers.
One person will be selected and will enter the house during the live show tomorrow night.
After hearing about the golden ticket scheme, Philip bought 144 KitKats, but failed to find one of the special wrappers. He then resorted to paying £500 for the chance to star in the Big Brother house.
After passing the programme’s thorough background checks, Philip and the other ticket winners were vetted by the show’s psychologist.
Philip, a former pupil at St Peter & Paul Primary and Dundee High School, said he is quietly confident he had done enough to be chosen.
He said, “I thought it went really well on Monday. I don’t want to get too excited about it. To get through would be amazing, but I’ll just have to wait and see.
“The rest of the people were quite quiet. There was no one that was completely crazy.
“I was happy with the way it went. It couldn’t have gone any better. I know I’ve done my best.”
The self-confessed Big Brother addict compared himself to housemate Nikki.
Philip added, “I am a fun-loving person and I see myself getting on really well with Nikki and Pete. I have been watching the programme and they are my favourites.
“I am just like Nikki — she speaks without thinking and I can be like that too. And Pete seems like a great guy.
“I am outgoing and bubbly and I am sure I would fit in well with the group.”
Philip, who lives with his parents Francis and Linda and sister Francesca, said he’d like to shake up the house.
“I think from this year’s housemates I don’t think Scots have been represented very well.
“I think I can do a good job for Scotland in the house,” he added.
A Big Brother spokesman said other contenders included a former Internet stripper and a professional tennis player.
Meanwhile, in the reality television house, Grace and Lisa were on collision course with Aisleyne today, as a cat-fight loomed.
The pair launched a scathing attack on the blonde promotions girl, and labelled the Londoner a “dog”.
But the three girls will have to live with each other for at least another week, as Sam, a transsexual from Ayrshire, and model Nikki are up for eviction. |
