Police condemn brick-throwing thugs
Thugs who smashed a window on a busy Travel Dundee bus on Saturday night have been condemned by Tayside Police.
A brick was thrown through a side window of a No 17 on Pitkerro Road shortly after 10pm, showering the inside of the bus with glass. Fortunately, no one was sitting at the seat next to the window when the vandals struck, and no one suffered any injuries.

Passenger George Aimer, Kinghorne Road, praised Travel Dundee for their prompt action in sending a replacement bus, which arrived on the scene within 10 minutes.

“I wonder if the culprit who chucked the brick has the brain to realise they could have disfigured someone for life.”

Travel Dundee engineer Frank Sheach confirmed the incident and said the company was, sadly, well versed in reacting to such situations on Saturday nights.

“It’s unfortunate we have to go through that, but, on the weekends, we’re prepared for it,” he said. “We’ve always got a spare bus ready to send as a replacement on Saturday nights.”

A spokesman for Tayside Police said the matter was under investigation and appealed for witnesses to get in touch on 01382 223200, or speak to any officer.

“Obviously we condemn this type of incident. Fortunately, no one was hurt in this one, but it could cause serious injury to innocent people,” the spokesman said.
