| “This is purely a personal point of view, but it would stir things up a wee bit,” commented Geoff, whose side finished second in the First Division this season.
“I haven’t put a proposal forward, but will be discussing this matter with other people.
“I’m keen to see how successful this season’s First and Second Division play-offs are.
“For instance, if Partick get past Stranraer and Morton account for Peterhead in their First Division play-off semis, the Morton-Partick final play-offs could be sell-outs.
“Ten thousand crowds at each of these grounds would generate over £100,000 in cash at each game, which is great for the clubs concerned. Matches like that are what the punters want.
“I’m advocating second bottom in the Premier plays second top in the First and bottom in the Premier plays top in the First, with the winners of these ties going into the Premier.”
Meanwhile, Saints player Ryan Stevenson is facing an operation to repair a cheekbone fracture sustained against St Mirren.
The Perth club today appointed long-time fan Stan Harris, who works for Linde, a major worldwide company, as a new director.
Geoff said, “We’re pleased Stan has accepted our invitation to join the board.” |
