| Jimmy Goodman’s shop, a fixture in Park Avenue for nearly two decades, will now pass to new ownership after he decided to call time on his newsagent days.
Originally an employee of more than 20 years with Blue Circle cement, James and his wife Rose wanted to be their own bosses and purchased the long-standing newsagents as a business venture.
“There have been a lot of ups and downs. The area went downhill for a while but, recently, a lot of good work has been done and the new flats built in the area have made a huge difference,” Jimmy said.
“It has been hard at times, but we have been fortunate to be very busy during our time here and I’d just like to thank our staff and all of our regular customers who have stood by us over the years.
“There are many local residents who I have delivered papers to everyday for the past 20 years.”
Jimmy plans to have a well-earned break for a few months and spend more time with his wife and two grandchildren, Hope and Kerr.
A keen golfer, he is also hoping to spend more time on the fairways at Alyth Golf Club. |
