Swans at Beach Crescent, Broughty Ferry, today.

| Dundee City Council plans to closely monitor the city’s swan population following the discovery of the dead bird in Fife. |
| A council spokeswoman said although it is impossible to quarantine the swans at either Stobsmuir Ponds or near Broughty Ferry Castle, they would be keeping a watch on the situation.
She said there was no way to tell if the virus had spread north of the Tay unless a bird died and then tested positive for the disease.
