Teacher bid to ban phone film
A female teacher at a Dundee secondary school has launched legal proceedings in a bid to stop sexually explicit footage on her stolen mobile phone from being published, writes Laurie Watson.
An Edinburgh-based law firm, acting on her behalf, said it had intended to apply for an interim interdict at the Court of Session in Edinburgh to prohibit the pictures from becoming public knowledge.

Despite the threat of legal action, however, it emerged today that the footage had been circulated amongst pupils at the school.

Today the school, Dundee City Council and Tayside Police remained tight-lipped over the incident, with a wall of silence surrounding the contents of the 13-second clip and the whereabouts of the teacher.

A police spokesman would confirm only that an investigation was continuing.

“We are investigating the theft of a teacher’s mobile phone, stolen from her handbag left in an unattended classroom on Wednesday, March 15, between 1.30 and 3.30pm.

“The teacher immediately reported the matter to us.

“Officers are currently examining CCTV footage in a bid to identify the person or persons responsible.”

A spokesman for Dundee City Council said, “A teacher has reported the theft of a mobile phone to the police.”

The headteacher at the school — where the teacher continued to work after the theft — was refusing to accept phone calls.

Although the teacher has committed no offence, it is believed some parents are extremely concerned at the contents of the footage.

However, when the Tele attempted to obtain an updated list of school board members from the council’s director of education, Anne Wilson, a written request had not been answered at the time of going to press.

There was no sign of life at the teacher’s home in Dundee, and no-one at the school or council was willing to comment on her whereabouts.
