Pupils’ plea for missing Freddy

Kinloch Primary pupils Kerry Findlay, Cameron Gilzean and Angus Sangster shed a tear beside the pal of the missing frog bin.

‘Where’s Freddy?’ is the question on the lips of the youngsters at Kinloch Primary School in Carnoustie after one of their playground bins went missing.
Freddy was the name given to the wide-mouthed character — one of two frog bins in the school grounds — who had been happily gobbling up litter until his disappearance on Monday night.

He was last seen at 7pm on Monday, when the janitor locked everything up, but on opening the school at 7.30am on Tuesday, Freddy was gone.

Staff member Sandra Norman said, “A lot of the pupils are quite upset about this because they can’t understand why anyone would want to steal a litter bin, especially one shaped like a big, green frog.

“Whoever took it first removed the metal insert and left a trail of rubbish leading from the playground out into Mayfield Lane.

“I can only imagine someone took him as a, probably drunken, prank and is now wondering what to do with him.

“If anyone does know where Freddy is we would love to hear from them so we can get him back.”

Anyone who has seen a litter bin in the form of a large, green frog in the Carnoustie area can contact Tayside Police on Forfar (01307) 302200 or speak to any police officer.
