| Johnnie and Terri Williamson, from Dundee, and Ian and Cathy McDonald, from Perth, will be competing in the arduous Arctic Husky Challenge next year.
They each need to raise £3000 to take part in the event and the proceeds from their fund-raising efforts will go to Macmillan Cancer Relief and the Maggie’s Centre.
The quartet of intrepid adventurers visited Discovery Point in Dundee today to launch their fund-raising programme.
Johnnie (27) said, “All of us have lost family members through cancer and the charities are the ones that offered help to our relatives, so it does mean a lot to us.
“We will be staging a whole range of events in both Perth and Dundee over the next year to raise money, starting with a wine tasting event in Perth on March 26.”
The couples will fly out to Tromso in Norway at the end of March next year to begin their husky challenge.
They will spend nearly a week travelling through the inhospitable Arctic environment on sledges pulled by a team of Alaskan huskies. |
