No rest for the injured at Tannadice
Injury does not equal inactivity under Craig Brewster at Tannadice — as crocked stars like Paul Ritchie and Jim McIntyre have been finding out (writes Tom Duthie).
A dead leg means Ritchie is still some weeks away from a first-team return, while McIntyre’s slipped disc has ruled him out of ball work until the pre-season.

Craig, himself out until next term because of a broken leg, has revealed all the injured members of the squad are keeping busy.

“There are a lot of aerobic exercises we can still do, so, while the boys are not out on the training pitch, most days they are doing double sessions in the gym,” he explained.

“The nature of Jimmy Mac’s injury means some days he feels better than others and can do a bit more. The work they are doing means, once the injuries clear, they can get back to full fitness more quickly.”

Last night, on-loan full-back Charlie Mulgrew underwent knee surgery in Glasgow and news of his likely recovery time was being awaited today.

Looking ahead to Saturday’s trip to Easter Road, the manager does not feel his team’s task will be made any easier if Hibs sell striker Garry O’Connor to Lokomotiv Moscow in the next couple of days.

“Garry is a very good player and this could be a great move for him, but Hibs have a few dangerous strikers, so whoever we are facing will be a threat.”
