Respiratory clinic cash raised in memory of Kim

Kim’s mum, Deborah, and gran, Mary, hand over the £300 cheque to asthma nurse Helen Donald as Baldragon Academy pupils and staff look on.

Staff and pupils from Dundee’s Baldragon Academy raised money for the Young Adults Respiratory Clinic in memory of former pupil Kim Smith (15), who died after suffering a severe asthma attack last July.

Her former teachers and fellow pupils decided to raise money to boost the funds of the clinic, which is based at Ninewells Hospital.

They raised £300 from both a coffee morning at the school and from donations teachers made instead of exchanging Christmas cards.

Kim’s mother, Deborah, and her gran, Mary Ludwicki, were at Baldragon Academy today to hand over the cheque to Helen Donald, an asthma nurse from Ninewells.

Fiona Anderson, principal teacher of music, said, “We are very pleased to have raised the money for the clinic in memory of Kim. It is a cause very personal to the school.”
