| Dundee City Council social work staff who have raised thousands for charity had their efforts recognised today.
In recent years, the staff have staged Christmas plays — and their latest, Peter Pan, raised more than £5000.
About 30 staff took part in the production, which ran for four nights and was a sell-out.
Nine charities benefited — Epilepsy at the Ryehill Centre, St Vincent de Paul, Headway, Kidney Dialysis at Ninewells, Cystic Fibrosis at Ninewells, Jericho House, Body Positive, the People’s Dispensary for Sick Animals and the Lord Provost’s Charity Fund.
Congratulating the staff at a reception in the City Chambers today, social work convener Helen Wright said putting on the show had been done in addition to the staff’s normal work of caring for some of the most vulnerable people in the city.
Social work director Alan Baird said the reception recognised the hard work put in by the staff in their own time. |
