| The challenge was set by Andrew Bolton Opticians as part of Perth Road Christmas Week, when retailers run various competitions and events.
Rian, a teacher at Dens Road Primary School, noticed the challenge in the shop window and after failing on the first attempt she spent the best part of a week trying to crack the theory.
“I came in and had a shot but didn’t manage it, so I practised at home until I got it,” she said.
“It was quite a lot of trial and error, but I stuck at it on and off for a week until I eventually got it.”
Rian was one of four people to master the trick, but it was her name that was pulled from the hat to win an iPod shuffle.
Optician owner Andrew Bolton searched for something unique, but fun, to challenge shoppers. He said, “It was run in conjunction with Perth Road Christmas Week and shops were invited to come up with something to promote the area. I wanted something a bit different and came up with the nail challenge. I didn’t even tell the staff how to do it.” |
