| The Audit Scotland report, published nationally today, said Dundee City Council only dealt with 13.8% of planning applications within two months.
However, a Dundee City Council spokesperson today confirmed the figure was an error, and that the correct number should be 77%. This places Dundee in the higher tier of the table, with only West Lothian, East Renfrewshire and Clackmannanshire better.
This also marks an improvement from the 2003/2004 figures, where the council dealt with 61% of planning applications between two months.
The spokesperson said, “We will be contacting Audit Scotland to get the amended figure inserted.”
Dundee is leading the way in some other areas of council services too.
It is among the top in the country for making public buildings accessible to disabled people.
Around 75% of all public buildings in the city are accessible for people with disabilities, third in the country.
Dumfries & Galloway props up the table in this category, with just 2%.
In addition, Dundee is currently first for responding to requests for high-priority pest control within two days, and the council carries out 100% of food hygiene inspections on time. |
