| Ninety-five-year-old Jessie Smart will be knitting dozens of scarves which will be sold at Barrogil House Care Home’s Christmas event on December 17.
Mrs Smart’s knitting challenge has been an annual fixture at the Cluny home over the festive season, and in the past has raised hundreds of pounds for overseas charities.
This year, however, Mrs Smart plans to donate all the proceeds closer to home by putting all the money collected towards residents’ funds.
“Last year Jessie knitted more than 100 scarves for Romanian orphans but this time she wants her efforts to go to residents’ funds,” explained Barrogil activities co-ordinator Bill Gray.
“We hope that as many family members, friends and members of the public will come along to enjoy the occasion with us.”
Mrs Smart, who is originally from Cardenden, will join the other residents on December 17 to help out at Barrogil House’s Christmas fayre.
The event is due to run between 10.30am and 12.30pm and will have a number of stalls including tombola, bring and buy and cake and candy. |
