| The first heavy snowfalls of the winter are expected to hit parts of the country in the next 48 hours and that has prompted the Tangerines not to take any chances over their journey to face Inverness Caley Thistle on Saturday.
Undersoil heating and the Caledonian Stadium’s close proximity to the Moray Firth mean no serious problems are expected with the pitch.
But, with roads between Dundee and the Highland capital set to be treacherous on Saturday, manager Gordon Chisholm has decided to make the trip tomorrow and spend the night in a local hotel.
“We do not want to take any chances with the journey, so we will head up Friday afternoon. The pitch should be fine and I am sure the game will go ahead. This is the best way to prepare.”
Not making the squad will be injured midfielder Grant Brebner. He did not train again today and is now considered to have no chance of making it.
With Peter Canero and Lee Mair already definitely out through injury and skipper Paul Ritchie suspended, that has left the squad short on numbers, though the manager was remaining philosophical about that.
“We are light, but there is nothing we can do about it now. People will have the chance to come in a do a job and some of the kids will have to be involved.
“However, we sent a very young team up there for the reserve game on Tuesday and they played very well in getting a draw against an experienced Inverness line-up, so they can handle it if they are called on to play.” |
