| Lord Provost John Letford, City Centre manager Lorna McKenzie and Dundee City Centre Action Group Chairman John Morton were among the first customers.
Lining Reform Street and High Street, stalls were bustling as shoppers took in the vast array of French, German, Italian, Tunisian and Belgian cuisine.
The stalls will sell everything from Swiss cheese to Dutch toffee waffles over the next 11 days. Traditionally crafted gifts such as Polish jewellery, Tunisian pottery and Italian and French handbags will also tempt buyers.
The specially-extended market will this year run in conjunction with the Farmers’ Market this Saturday.
Organiser Shar Williams said she was pleased the market was returning to the city. “Normally we visit a city for four days. However, we have agreed to run the market for 11 days — the longest in the UK.” |
