| As part of the Education for Work and Enterprise programme, employees from Torith, Kallkwik and the Queen’s and Hilton Hotels went back to school to share the tricks of their trades with a series of workshops for pupils.
Sandra Cannon, Depute Head at Baldragon, said pupils were revelling in the opportunity to learn all about construction work, printing techniques and preparing top-notch cuisine.
“The scheme has been running for five years and continues to go from strength to strength,” she said. “It all came about through a meeting with Alison Blake from the Dundee Business Community Link, which was trying to make youngsters more aware of the employment opportunities available.
“We have had a whole host of firms through the years, and it’s become a day the pupils always look forward to.”
She added, “Some of the first pupils to take part in the scheme are now working with the firms they first met at school. It’s been a huge success, and I’m sure some of the pupils will repeat that success this year.” |
