West Park Conference Centre re-opens
The West Park Conference Centre, in Dundee, re-opened today following the completion of the first phase of the £5 million redevelopment of the site.
The centre, off Perth Road, comprises villas, a conference centre, a mansion house and halls of residence.

The last building offered catered accommodation for which demand had fallen, and was demolished to make way for 140 en-suite bedrooms.

The entire site was temporarily closed from July 20 to allow construction and renovation, and the centre re-opened for day meetings today.

Improvements include a new reception area, three new meeting rooms and new toilets.

The demolition of the old West Park Hall bedroom blocks is now complete and work is ongoing on the new bedrooms and improvements to car parking and access.

A spokesman for Sanctuary Management Services — the company running the university’s student residences — said, “We also took the opportunity to refurbish the Balbeggie suite with the addition of three new meeting rooms, new toilets and a totally new reception area.

“This work is the first phase of three which will be complete by September 2006.”

The university last year transferred all its student accommodation to Sanctuary Management Services in a £60 million, 35-year contract.
