Stobswell trailer dogs concern
Local residents have expressed concern after a trailer containing two young dogs has been set up in a Dundee car park, writes Katherine Trail.
The car park in Langlands Street, in Stobswell, which is owned by Dundee City Council, is playing host to the two canine lodgers.

One man, who works in the area, said he has been in touch with all the authorities — police, dog wardens and the Scottish Society for the Protection of Cruelty to Animals — but it seems the dogs have food and water and are taken out for a 15-minute walk.

He added, “The dogs are howling all the time.”

Councillor for Stobswell Joe Morrow said, “After making contact with the dog wardens and the SSPCA, it seems this is nothing to do with the law.

“However, I do think it is inappropriate a public car park is being used as a housing area for dogs, even if they are being kept in a way that is not cruel.

“I do understand the concern from local residents.

“I have had four or five calls in the past few days, and I have looked at the situation.”

An SSPCA spokesperson confirmed the situation was not illegal.

A Dundee City Council spokeswoman said, “We are in the process of getting in touch with the owner to try to resolve the matter.”
